Who are we? Exploring our names, our challenges, our wisdom

October 23, 24, 25

Mark your calendars for the Church of the Brethren Women’s Retreat at Camp Myrtlewood! This is a time for women of all ages from teens to seniors to come together to relax, to play, to share, create and be inspired by each other’s presence. So whether you are feeling joyful, tearful, tired, wounded or sad… come. There will be something there for you. Bringing chocolate or another favorite snack is encouraged.

This year the retreat will be co-facilitated by Ann Richards and Sylvia Eagan. We will explore what it means to us to be “called by name.” What are the special qualities that make us who we are? We will also spend some time sharing our wisdom that has grown out of the wounds and challenges we have encountered. Young or old, we have all learned something from our years of living.

There will be free time when you can attend to whatever you need to do to feed your spirit. Be creative, take a nap, take a hike, visit with each other, meditate, journal, work a jig-saw puzzle, get a foot massage… you’re in charge. There will also be time for games, because an important part of renewing our spirits is to laugh and play.

You can register for the retreat by calling or e-mailing Sylvia Eagan at 503 255-6393, or by e-mailing sjeagan [at] msn [dot] com. Please register as early as possible, to facilitate planning. The fee for Women’s Retreat is $50 and includes meals beginning with supper Friday evening and ending with lunch on Sunday plus lodging for two nights. Please prepare to pay at the retreat. There are some scholarship funds available upon request.

Bring your own bedding, towel, and personal stuff, including rain gear just in case, but we are requesting perfect weather. We also encourage you to bring a name tag, if you have one, from some experience or life situation that helps define who you are. Otherwise you can make one at camp.
